Policing in the 21st Century: Reconnecting police and the people

Document presentat pel Home Office Britànic que és la "versió" policial del que presentàvem fa unes setmanes sobre la revisió i reforma de les Forces Armades britàniques

En aquest cas, també es preveu una reducció dels efectius policials, mitjançant la substitució de l'anomenada "bureaucratic accountability" per una de més efectiva i una millor gestió dels efectius. Un punt d'especial interès, per una qüestió de comparativa de sistemes político-administratius, és el que trobem en la pàgina nº19 i que diu: "The Government will continue to have a role in setting the national strategic directions for the police, but it will have no roll in telling the police how to do their job -that is for the police; or in holding them to account for how well they have done it - that is for the public and for their Police and Crime Comissioner" (el subratllat és nostre). Certament, és una lliçó sobre com gestionar una policia en un país de llarga tradició democràtica.
